Bird’s Nest Fern

Bird's nest fern (Asplenium nidus) is a popular fern species known for its attractive, glossy fronds that resemble a bird's nest. Here are some care instructions for a Bird's nest fern:

☀️ Place your Bird's nest fern in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

💦 Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the fern when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Mist the fronds regularly to increase humidity, especially in dry indoor environments.

🪹 Plant your Bird's nest fern in well-draining, porous soil. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and bark works well to retain moisture while allowing excess water to drain.

🌡️ Bird's nest ferns prefer temperatures between 60-80°F (15-27°C). Avoid exposing them to temperatures below 50°F (10°C) or drafts from heaters or air conditioners.

🌧️ Maintain moderate to high humidity levels around your Bird's nest fern. Regular misting or placing the plant on a tray filled with pebbles and water can help increase humidity.

🥣 Feed your Bird's nest fern with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing during the winter months.

✂️ Trim off any brown or dead fronds as needed to maintain the plant's appearance and encourage healthy growth.

🪴Repot your Bird's nest fern every 1-2 years to refresh the soil and provide room for growth. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one (not more than 2” larger).

By following these care instructions, you can help your Bird's nest fern thrive and add a touch of lush greenery to your indoor space. 💚
